If Glencoe Boat Club’s 2001 Summer Points Series had been marked by light breezes and disappointing turnouts, the last three races stayed true to form as it came to a close. With the sixth race having to be abandoned when the wind died shortly into its second round and the seventh attracting a solitary competitor in Elrhuna, the eighth fared little better. It was fought out by just Didima IV and Fly (with the latter making her only series appearance of the season), but more patchy breezes led to a drifting match for most of the first hour followed by an unlucky conclusion for Didima, who narrowly failed to make the time limit after having been in touch for most of the race. If the average turnout of just over two boats per race was very disappointing, however, the series still found a worthy winner in the veteran Elrhuna, who sailed more often and more consistently than any of her competitors.
