Having been launched a couple of months later than usual, Fly missed the entire early season local regatta circuit and Round Mull Race and only just made Bangor Week by the skin of her teeth! Since I helped deliver the Sadler 25 Spirit from Dunstaffnage to the Clyde at Easter for my father (see the photos of Sanda at Sunrise in my photo gallery) and crewed for Hutch’s Class 2 win at the Glencoe Regatta, however, the trip to Bangor wasn’t my first sailing of the year.
Although Fly stayed on the Clyde after the Two-Handed with the unrealised intention of taking her for a short cruise in October before lifting out, my racing season finished on a three boat roll with two further OSC wins round Lismore in Tangle o’ the Isles (First 32s5) with Joey Gough and the Average Lap Regatta in Farr Out (Laser 28) with Billy Forteith.
